Rail-thin, with a wild head of gravity-defying hair, Dan Zanes still looks like a hard-core rocker. For the last 10 years, however, the former frontman for alt-rock band Del Fuegos has been all about family music--making it, sharing it and celebrating it in all its forms. Zanes' appreciation for folk music and tunes from around the world infuses his work with warmth and "handmade," sing-along informality. This friendly DVD presents Zanes and other standout musicians in an intimate, multicultural gathering of parents, kids and performers. A well-produced, entertaining sampler of Zanes' offbeat, all-embracing musical and performance style, it was filmed at the Jalopy Theater in Brooklyn by the Dancing Diablo company and features live performance, puppets (the Dancing Diablo Elephant Theatre) and charming, creative music videos.
