hello hello
a note from dan zanes
this fall little, brown and company will be publishing "hello hello", the first of two picture book collaborations between donald saaf (my brother-in-law and the person responsible for the artwork on all of the dan zanes and friends cd packages) and myself. it's based on the lyrics to the song "hello" from the "rocket ship beach" cd. donald did the hard part, the illustrations. most of them are in the fold out style in which the picture on the page changes when the flap is folded out. donald did a beautiful and funny rendering of the friendly neighborhood i had in mind when i wrote the song.

the book comes with a five song cd which includes a newly recorded version of "hello" as well as "alabama bound", "crawdad", "get on board little children", and "mairi's wedding." in the back of the book there are musical notation and notes about each song. the book is printed on recycled paper and processed chlorine free.
